Travel to the island by returning residents and essential workers has been permitted from these areas and they have been required to undergo 14 days self-isolation on arrival. EMT has decided that from 14 October 2021, fully vaccinated returning residents and essential workers from the above areas will be tested on arrival and will only need to isolate until they receive a negative test result. Unvaccinated returning residents and essential workers will be required to undergo the 14 days self-isolation upon arrival.

EMT has been investigating the use of the Queensland Check-in application for customer registration on the island. Unlike the NSW check in application the Queensland version does not send an SMS verification, therefore it can be used by customers for registration purposes at businesses on the island.

A clear picture of what Norfolk Island looked like before European arrival has emerged from a project that has, for the first time ever, mapped native vegetation across the entire island, as it exists now and before 1750. These maps will be on display for the first time ever at the Royal A&H Show on the 11th October.
