Weekend Sunrise- June 2022 - Live Weather

17 June 2022

Last weekend was a hive of activity as locals were filmed as they were interviewed by weather presenter James Tobin, known as JT, from Channel Seven Weekend Sunrise Breakfast Show. The crew were here on Norfolk Island over the weekend for live weather cross on both Saturday and Sunday, the 11 & 12 June 2022.

It was wonderful to see JT and the crew back on Norfolk Island and I am sure many were excited to see their friends on the TV breakfast show. Weekend Sunrise always showcases beautiful areas of our remote South Pacific Island during their visits to Norfolk Island.

Saturday morning was perfect weather for broadcasting the live weather cross on Weekend Sunrise. The TV film crew captured footage at Hundred Acres Reserve and spoke to volunteers and the conservation workers who have been weeding and working in the reserve. JT planted a tree and also learnt about the endemic Norfolk Island snails. Tea Shire Drive is a new business, offers a unique way to explore on a horse drawn carriage rides across our majestic Norfolk Island. JT and PJ were filmed as they drove along the road through the wonderful old fig trees. I am sure this will be a popular activity for visitors when they are holidaying on Norfolk Island.

It was a sunny and a little breezy on Sunday morning for the weather cross, as the broadcast continued at Kingston, with chats with Rachael Nebauer-borg, talking about her Ghost tours and JT experiences when the TV crew joined the night tour during their stay. There was also a chat about Glamping on Norfolk Island, overlooking the wonderful view of Kingston, the Norfolk Island World Heritage Site. Then the final stop was down at Emily Bay, they chatted about the

summer Floatchella beach day with a few young local enjoying a swim in the bay.

The Glass bottom boat was being filmed when I drove to Kingston and locals were also on the boat and talked about their Pitcairn and Tahitian heritage, plus Susan Prior joined them and talked about the coral, fish, and conservation of the lagoon’s underwater world. I took a few photographs of the glass-bottom boat plus the excited local girls on the shore with banners hoping to get filmed by the Weekend Sunrise TV crew.

Sunrise is an Australian breakfast television program, broadcast on the Seven Network. Presenter JT and the TV crew have visited Norfolk Island many times in recent years. Their passion for Norfolk Island was shown as they worked their magic showcasing Norfolk Island on their Weekend Sunrise breakfast show.

It is wonderful the JT and the Weekend Sunrise TV crew have once again promoted our little piece of paradise. Thank you everyone who supported and assisted with the TV film team.
