Two Gas Tanker, Shelter at Cascade Bay Buena Bandera and Stella 25 Sept 2025

This month the gas tankers Stella and Buena Bandera arrived at Norfolk Island and anchored at Cascade Bay. On 26 September it was a stunning spring day with calm seas. I drove out to Cascade Pier and took a few photographs of the vessel as it was anchored not far out to sea. I could see that there were a couple of large L.P.G. tanks on the deck of the Gas Tanker. Cascade was settled and calm, but the waves were rolling in at Kingston as large ocean swells had developed in the Tasman Sea and surrounding ocean areas.

I checked the shipping app, and the tankers were still anchored on 1 October 2025. The sea swells are now settling around Norfolk Island, and I am sure the crew enjoyed our settled coastline at Cascade during the big ocean swells.

The current position of STELLA is at South Pacific Ocean reported 7 days ago by AIS. The Stella last port of call was Dunedin, New Zealand on 19 September 2025. The vessel is en route to NF NLK, sailing at a speed of 10.3 knots and expected to arrive there on Sep 24, 22:30.

The vessel STELLA (IMO 9959371, MMSI 538011125) is a LPG Tanker built in 2024 (1 year old) and currently sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands.

During September, the vessel Gas Ace anchored at Cascade Bay on for a few days. A week later the gas supply tanker, Gas Blossom, delivered gas for the Norfolk Island, at Ball Bay on 24 September 2025.

Here are photos of the gas tankers, Stella and Buena Bandera taken at Cascade Bay on 26 September 2025. I also photographed the swells at the Kingston, the waves were impressive on Saturday as the waves splashed up the end of the Kingston Pier.
