Saturday was a stunning summer’s day here on Norfolk Island, and when I visited Emily Bay after work, there will lots of locals and visitors enjoy the annual Triple J’s Hottest 100. The music was playing, and everyone looked like they were enjoying the fun beach day. There will many umbrellas and shade tents set up along the sandy beach and families were in the water with blow up floaties of all shapes and sizes. I even spotted a unicorn enjoying the day in the sun.
I enjoyed a swim in the water and took my water camera and captured the colourful and relaxed scenes long the bay and many young children having fun jumping off the Emily Bay pontoon.
MINE YUS PLET & SALTY BEER GARDEN joined forces to bring everyone together for TRIPLE J’s Hottest 100. They had invited everyone to come down to the beach for good vibes, good food, cold drinks and good music. The bar was open during the day and into the evening as the radio station, Triple J, played music as they counted down the 100 playlists, with speakers set up around the bay.
Once again there were creative rafts in the bay, I watched a group attempt to launch their plastic crate with a chair on top, but alas, it tipped over and the lady ended up having a swim instead. Back to the engineers drawing board for them, and they removed the chair.
There was also the return of the Christian Bailey Picnic Table with a chilli bin (esky) and a motor attached, along with another couple of rafts with large paddling pools attached. I expect they were putting the empty cans and bottles in the blow-up pool.
I hope everyone remembered their sunscreen and sunhats and remembered to be sun smart. It was a very hot and sunny day, fingers crossed there weren’t too many sunburnt people after the day at the beach.
Thank you to those who organised this fun day at Emily Bay for the Triple J Radio Station Hottest 100, and to the organisers and helpers of the Norfolk Island Community who did a clean up early on Sunday and posted the lost property photos on Facebook. It was interesting to see there were even golf balls found along with towels etc.
It was an amazing beach day, the Triple J Hottest 100, at Emily Bay, just one month after Christmas and a wonderful way to end the summer holidays as schools have now returned. The Triple J Hottest 100, is a fun Norfolk Island summer’s day event, which I am sure everyone enjoyed with their floaties and lovely swims in the bay with family and friends.
Here are a few photos I took 27 January 2024, on Saturday afternoon.
