The Reef Brief

10 June 2024

Each Monday, Susan Prior and Norfolk Island Time will present a weekly talk about Norfolk Island’s inshore reef. This event will be going ahead every week, including on both the two upcoming public holidays on Bounty Day, 10 June, and the King’s Birthday, 17 June.

This talk is for everyone – both residents and tourists – who may be curious to see the amazing activity that goes on under the waves of Emily and Slaughter Bays. If you don’t want to get your feet wet, or maybe you’d like to know what you will see on a glass-bottom boat tour, or perhaps you are planning to go snorkelling and would like some hints and tips, then do go along. Everyone is welcome.

The event is kindly hosted by the Knowledge Centre in Burnt Pine (next door to the Commonwealth Bank), which boasts an eye-popping ultra hi-definition screen, all the better to show off the stunning marine life.

  • When: every Monday from 4.15pm
  • Where: the Knowledge Centre, next to the Commonwealth Bank in Burnt Pine
  • Cost: $10, children under 16 are free. If you’d like a cuppa it will be a gold coin donation.
