Taste Norfolk Island Food Festival 2021

Norfolk Island is a food lover’s destination boasting around 20-plus eating out places serving up the freshest of fish, succulent beef and pork, in-season fruit and vegetables picked daily and boutique products including artisan cheese and honey, and many more paddock-to-plate experiences.

In 2014, the first Taste Norfolk Island Food Festival was held to showcase the island’s incredible food experiences and to encourage visitors to enjoy a foodie holiday on a paradise island.

The Festival is a highlight on the island’s Event calendar and is always held in November to include Thanksgiving Day celebrations. Norfolk Island is one of the few places outside of the USA to celebrate Thanksgiving; brought to the island by Americans who worked here during the whaling industry.

The normal festival programme includes cooking demonstrations and workshops such as sourdough making and sausage making showcasing the island’s talented local Chefs. Celebrity Chefs Matt Golinski and Dominique Rizzo have both been involved in the events.

Due to Covid restrictions the complete festival programme has been cancelled for the past two years, however Taste Norfolk’s Bounty (TNB) has gone ahead as it is an outdoor event.

TNB is like a massive eat street by the sea! Held in the convict compound in the World Heritage Site in Kingston, people can savour treats from the many food stalls and check out the arts and crafts too. Under the night lights, there is also a bar service, entertainment and fireworks.

Another incredible night is planned for this year from 5.30pm til late on Tuesday 23 November 2021. It is a wonderful night for both locals and visitors and there’s usually over 1000 people through the gate!

The Food Festival committee will run its annual raffle, with three prizes being a wheelbarrow, a tub and bucket all over-flowing with local grown produce and home-cooking kindly donated by our amazing island farmers and providers.
