Super youngster makes premier grade in Victoria Bowls

13 February 2025

This weekend Norfolk Island Youngstar Ellie Dixon will make her debut in the Victorian premier league playing for Deer Park BC. Ellie finished school and commenced University in Melbourne last year and contacted ex Aussie international star Mark Casey to see if she could get a start at Deer Park BC. Mark has been excellent in providing support for Ellie, who played 3rd Division Pennants last year where she achieved the highest average votes for best player in the whole side. Ellie in 2024 was the recipient of a “Full Blues Award” by RMIT for sporting excellence and who have been selected in National squads supported by Sport Australia. This year Ellie has been in the Division 1 for the past 2 weeks but this week has been promoted to Premier League playing 2nd for the Scottish champion Dean Riva. Ellie has also teamed up with another young player Addy Ryan to win the Deer Park BC Women’s Pairs Championship this year, against two older players who have won 10 Club Championship between them. A great achievement for a young bowler, with plenty of improvement to been seen yet from Ellie. What a youngstar.

A great week-end of bowls at the Norfolk Island Bowls Club with the greens full for the entire week-end, with the men playing their first two rounds of the Club Pairs Championship, as well as a couple of games of the ladies Club Pairs as well, plus the social games that were played.
