Sunshine and Misty Rain

29 December 2023

During the last weeks of December, we have enjoyed sunshine and very warm days and also misty rain the week before Christmas. The rain was a welcome sight

for the gardens and for the water tanks, I thought it was a wonderful early gift for the festive season. With the rain and mist came flight cancellations and delays, but Friday 22 December the weather cleared and Qantas and Air Chathams flights were able to reschedule their passenger flights to the relief of the travelers.

This week on Tuesday, the Norfolk Island to Brisbane flight was delayed over night and on Wednesday morning a replacement plane arrived for the flight to Brisbane. I have read that the plane arriving from Brisbane had a bird strike, and this airplane remained here on Norfolk Island until it was given a safety check.

The weather since Christmas has been settled and very warm. I am sure the campers have enjoyed the fine weather and the festive gatherings and Norfolk Island Surfers and Board Riders’ competition also appreciated the summer weather. I have enjoyed snorkeling in the lagoon in Kingston, my summertime addiction.

Here are a few photos I have taken during the past weeks of the sunny days with blue water at Kingston and also the misty fog at the airport and at Kingston.

Now that the year comes to an end, I wish all the readers a Happy New Year and thank you for supporting Norfolk Online News
