South Pacific Games Norfolk Island Netball Team Announced

The Norfolk Island Netball Association are getting ready to send a squad to the Solomon Islands in November to compete in the 2023 Pacific Games. Those women that have put themselves to trial for the squad have endured a tough 5 months, physically and mentally. NINA would personally like to congratulate each player, immerasaurable growth and determination has been demonstrated, and the Norfolk Island community are extremley proud of the commitment each player has given.

The girls endured a two week trailing period leading up to team selection. Working with a high perfomance coach from Melbourne - Mel Starr during the first 4 days of trials. Mel put the girls were put through their paces and each demonstrated just how valuable she was. The girls wholeheartedly enjoying the experience and were extremley grateful for the oppurtunity.

Saturday 12th August saw the girls take to the court against the Norfolk Misfits, and what an afternoon it was. NINA were very appreciative to the Norfolk Island community for coming down and showing the girls their support. The squad the Misfits showcasing two quality games of Netball, final scores;

During the second week of trails saw the girls endure a grueling fitness and strength test, put forward by their trainers Tim Thompson and Kelly Gardiner. The girls giving it everything they had and leaving nothing left in the tank. Proving just how far they have come over the last 5 months.

The final night of trials and the girls took to the court for a final time against Norfolk Misfits, a huge turnout from our physical supporters;

Coaches and Managment had the honour of annoucning the 2023 SPG Norfolk Island Netball Captian and Vice Captain. NINA congratulates Emily Ryves as Captain and Tyler Bigg as Vice Captain. These ladies show exceptional dedication, team spirit, encouragment and leadership on and off the court. Well done girls.

The squad still have a lenghty campaign left, with less than 3 months away the girls are going to be working hard on and off the court to ensure they are ready for their journey over to the Solomons Island.

On the 23rd of September they have a huge fundrasing coming up, Big Day Out Festival held at the guide hall grounds. Details on this event can be found on the Norfolk Island Netball association Facebook page.
