Scenic Eclipse II Cruise Ship Arrived Saturday 7 March 2026

Last weekend the luxury cruise ship Scenic Eclipse II arrived at Norfolk Island on Saturday 7 March 2026. The Cruise ship anchored at Kingston and the passengers disembarked on the ship’s zodiacs at the Kingston Pier. I am unsure how many visitors came ashore, but the Scenic Eclipse II can carry approximately 228 passengers and 176 crew. There were tour buses were waiting for the passengers when they came ashore and it was a lovely day here on Norfolk Island for them to explore our beautiful Island.

It is fitting that the vessel is named Scenic Eclipse II, as this cruise ship arrives the same week as the Total Lunar Eclipse 3-4 March 2026, which was the night before they departed Auckland, New Zealand.

The Scenic Eclipse II is a beautiful looking cruise ship, and it was only built in 2023, and sails under the flag of the Bahamas. I am sure the passengers are enjoying a wonderful adventure on the South

Pacific Discovery cruise which started in Auckland, then stopping at the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, followed with Norfolk Island as the first stop of the South Pacific Islands. As they depart Norfolk Island they will visit New Caledonia, Vanuatu and ending in Fiji.

This is not the first time this luxury cruise ship has visited. The cruise ship Scenic Eclipse II visited on 16 April 2024. During that visit the passengers enjoyed a sunny day exploring Norfolk Island and some even took scenic flights around Norfolk Island on one of the two ship’s helicopters, which was a noise we don’t hear every day at Kingston or around our coastal areas on Norfolk Island. The Scenic Eclipse II also visited Norfolk Island on 28 November 2025, as part of the cruise named “Treasures of the Pacific:” The ship anchored at Sydney Bay, Kingston and the passengers disembarked on the ship’s zodiacs at the Kingston Pier, and the passengers enjoyed a day exploring our beautiful shores.

Scenic Eclipse II

The Scenic Eclipse II is a brand-new ship aged 3 years, was built in 2023, costing EUR 190 million or USD 230 million. Scenic Eclipse II sails under the flag of Croatia. It is operated and owned by Scenic Group Australia, with the capacity to carry 228 passengers and 176 crew. The vessel is 168 metres long and 22 meters beam width. There are 114 cabins, on five of the ten decks. Scenic Eclipse II is classed as an Ice Strengthen expedition Mega Yacht and has Antarctica and Southern Ocean voyages scheduled during the next summer season.

Scenic Eclipse, which disembarked at Kingston Pier on 7 March 2026, is the third cruise ship to visit Norfolk Island this year.

In February 2026 there were two cruise ships visiting, the Crystal Serenity visited on 15 February, with approximately 500 passengers, and a week later the Silver Dawn on 21 February 2026 with an estimate of 450 passengers.

I do not have an official confirmed list of cruise ships visiting Norfolk Island during 2026. The next cruise ship scheduled to visit is the P&O Cruise Carnival Encounter is due later in the year on 4 August 2026.
