Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

07 October 2021

Friday 15th October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It's a day for parents and families around the world to remember and honour babies lost through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death.

Losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy is a devastating and traumatic experience. For many parents, it is a sudden and unexpected loss that often goes unexplained because the cause is unknown.

Although Australia is one of the safest places to give birth, 6 babies are lost to stillbirth every day, and that number has not dropped in 20 years. (https://www.pregnancybirthbaby.org.au)

In collaboration with the founders of Pregnancy and Infant Loss, Australia (PAIL), the Women’s Advocacy Group, NI (WAGNI) will observe the day with a supporting circle of friendship hosted at

The Local on Friday 15th October between Local 4.30-6pm.

You are welcome to stay after. Information and pathways for support both on and off island will be available. For more information, please contact Eve Semple 54996, Dale Howe 56025, Susan Prior 51890 or Valeria Dorrigo 54018.
