Police Report - 4 January 2024

04 January 2024

Police would like to wish everyone a happy new year. The NIPF had a fairly quiet Christmas period and didn’t receive any complaints.

Unfortunately the Police and Ambulance service were called to a fatal collision early last Friday morning where a motorcycle rider was found deceased. A cause of death has been determined and it is directly linked to the fact that the rider was not wearing a helmet. Speed was not a factor in this incident. Police are urging all motorcycle and bicycle riders to wear helmets when riding their motorcycles or bicycles.

Checks of vehicle registrations show there are a large number of unregistered vehicles still operating on the roads. Police are asking everyone to get their vehicles registered to prevent getting a ticket. Police will start to conduct checks in a few weeks’ time and any unregistered vehicles will be removed from the road and the driver may receive a fine.

Finally, Senior Constable James Goodwin has come to the end of his deployment to Norfolk Island and leaves next week. The NIPF would like to wish him well with his future endeavours.
