Police Report - 31 March 2023
- Unfortunately it seems as though the Police are always on the radio with a negative message
- The NIPF have charges 4 people with driving under the influence of alcohol in the last week
- One of those instances resulted in a serious crash which required a male to be airlifted to the mainland for medical treatment
- Reports from one of the people in that vehicle were that they were told by some local people that it was the Norfolk Way to drive intoxicated
- Police have also seized 2 motorcycles from young people for their manner of riding
- There are a lot of electric stand up scooters on the Island which is good for the young people but they need to ride these scooters with care
- Riding these scooters between and behind cars is dangerous and we don’t want to see any children hurt
- These scooters are not motor vehicles and as such they are not permitted to be ridden on the road
- THE NIPF have tried to educate the public in regards to negative driving behaviours but the message is not getting through
- There will be a traffic ‘blitz’ conducted in relation to speeding, seatbelts, registration and any other traffic matters that draw the attention of the police
- Infringements will be issued and/or people sent to Court
- If your vehicle is unregistered it is not permitted to be driven on the road. There are heavy fines for driving an unregistered vehicle
