The NIPF would like to remind people to check that their vehicles are registered. Driving an unregistered vehicle on the roads has the potential to cause the driver many issues. Not only is there a fine for driving an unregistered vehicle on the roads but if you have insurance and your vehicle is not registered, the insurance is not valid. This could cause the driver huge financial stress in the event of a collision occurring. People may also not know that if they are driving an unregistered vehicle on the roads and are involved in a collision which was not their fault, the fault will almost certainly be attributed to them as the vehicle they are driving should not have been on the roads.
Also a reminder that the speed limit in Burnt Pine is 40 kph, in the school zones on school days is 30 kph from 8am until 3.30pm, Bay Street (along Slaughter Bay) and Emily Bay area is 30kph, National Park is 25kph and the rest of the island is 50kph. Please stick to the speed limits and obey other road rules (stop signs etc.) Our goal is to keep all road users safe.
From Sunday 7 July for 4 days the NIPF will have their new management team visiting Norfolk Island as the first stop on a tour of the External Territories. I just wanted to let the community know that while this team are on island we will be wearing our belts with guns etc. I want to assure the community that there is nothing else going on and we will go back to our normal dress once the management team has left the island. Please let your friends and family know. We do not want to cause any alarm.
