Police News

24 October 2024

Only a few little things from us this week:

  • Police have continued seizing vehicles on a regular basis, and it is becoming rare for us not to have a seized vehicle in our compound. We ask that the people continually doing the wrong thing please stop. I personally have seen the result of people acting in dangerous ways on the roads and I don’t want to have to be knocking on doors to deliver grim news to your family.
  • We have noticed an increase of people not wearing helmets on motorbikes. This includes people not attaching the chin strap which is also an offence of not having your helmet correctly fitted.
  • As some may be aware we have started handing out $5 vouchers for Sweeties, to those children wearing helmets. We still have several vouchers to hand out to those children wearing helmets and we continue to encourage children and adults to wear their helmets as they can’t save your head if they are left at home or not fitted.
  • We have begun conducting regular foot patrols when cruise ships off load. If you see us walking the streets, feel free to stop us and say hello, it’s always good to meet those who we have not yet met in the community.
