There has been an increase in the public reporting concerns about road safety
Police also want to remind people that they are only permitted to drive a vehicle which they are licensed to drive. For example if a person has a driver licence for a car they are not legally permitted to drive a heavy vehicle.
Motorists need to be aware that if they are driving contrary to the conditions of their licence they will not be covered by insurance in the event of a collision.
Police have also been made aware of a number of young people attempting to light fires and those allegations are being investigated. It has only been by good luck those fires did not catch and cause a lot of damage. We are in the middle of a drought and any fire can be catastrophic.
Last week Police were contacted in relation to a female hiker who had been missing for a number of hours. A search was started and involved resources from the Police, National Parks and St Johns Ambulance. We are happy to report that the hiker was located by National Parks staff and she was in good spirits and uninjured.
