The Norfolk Island Police would like to extend sincere thanks to members of the community who have stepped in to assist during recent road accidents. Their quick thinking and willingness to help during difficult moments reflect the strong spirit of care and cooperation that defines Norfolk Island.
As we move into the more humid months, motorists are reminded to take extra precautions on the roads. Recent weather conditions have brought low cloud cover and fog, significantly reducing visibility. Police urge all drivers to switch on their vehicle lights, even during daylight hours, to improve safety for themselves and others.
In addition, officers have observed some confusion around the use of indicators at roundabouts and intersections. Drivers are reminded to use their indicators correctly—especially when entering or exiting roundabouts, and when turning at intersections—to avoid misunderstandings and ensure the safety of all road users, including pedestrians.
The Norfolk Island Police thank the community for their continued support, cooperation, and encourage everyone to stay alert and considerate on the roads.
This Sunday, November 9th, the local community is invited to tee off for a great cause at the Police Charity Golf Day, starting at 3:00 PM at the Norfolk Island Golf Club.
The event will feature a 9-hole, 4-person Ambrose format, welcoming golfers of all skill levels to participate. Entry is $100 per team, which includes a gift bag and a sausage sandwich for each player. Attendees can also look forward to fantastic prizes throughout the day.
Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds will go to The Sunshine Club, a local charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families who must travel off island for essential medical treatment. Norfolk Island Police is proud to stand behind this initiative, recognizing the vital role The Sunshine Club plays in the community.
