08 August 2024

The P&O Pacific Explorer is due to arrive on Wednesday 14 August. This cruise ship last visited Norfolk Island a year ago on 13 September 2023. The P&O Pacific Explorer has stopped at Norfolk Island many times during their Pacific cruises and the last visit of the Pacific Explorer was 1 November 2023, which was the final visit last year.

2023 was a successful year for the cruise ships and especially for the P&O Cruises, when month after month the sea conditions were settled, it was fantastic passengers were able to come ashore and enjoy a day exploring our beautiful Norfolk Island.

  • The last cruise ship to disembark was on 16 April 2024, the Scenic Eclipse II -Luxury Cruise Ship, along with two helicopters, which offered scenic flights for the passengers. They anchored at Cascade Bay and approximately 180 passengers disembarked on zodiacs and had a great day exploring Norfolk Island.
  • The last cruise ship P&O Pacific Encounter arrived a month ago on 16 July 2024, but the ocean conditions were not favourable for the passengers to disembark and after sailing around our shoreline, sailed off into the South Pacific.
  • The next scheduled cruise ship I have listed is due to arrive is on Wednesday 18 September 2024, P&O Pacific Explorer returns with up to 2272 passengers. Fingers crossed the weather will be calm on their arrival on Norfolk Island, allowing the passengers to come ashore and enjoy our beautiful Norfolk Island.

Here are a few photos of the cruise ship anchored in Cascade Bay and Kingston during the 2023 visits to Norfolk Island.

We wish the passengers and crew safe travels as they sail the South Pacific on their “Bounty Adventure” cruise, and fingers crossed, they are able to disembark next Wednesday when they arrive on Norfolk Island on 14 August. Safe sailing, I look forward to taking photos of P&O Pacific Explorer first visit for 2024
