The P&O Pacific Encounter is due to arrive on Tuesday 16 July. This cruise ship last visited Norfolk Island a year ago on 18 July 2023. The P&O Pacific Encounter can carry up to 2600 passengers and last year it was fantastic that the weather was fine with settled seas and great that 2441 travellers were able to come ashore and enjoy a day exploring Norfolk Island.
2023 was a successful year for the cruise ships and especially for the P&O Cruises, when month after month the sea conditions were settled, and passengers were able to come ashore and enjoy a day exploring our beautiful Norfolk Island.
This cruise is a 14-day voyage, commencing on 13 July from Brisbane, the first stop is Norfolk Island on 16 July and then the travellers explore the Pacific as a scenic cruise of the “Mutiny on the Bounty”, visiting Nuku’alofa, Tonga, then onto Dravuni, Fiji followed by Port Vila, Vanuatu and then returning on 27 July 2024 to Brisbane, Australia.
Passengers on-board the “Bounty Adventure” cruise will not only learn about the history of different islands they will also be able to explore six different islands on foot, enjoy the sandy beaches, the local culture, and attractions, and even do some shopping. The voyage will travel past Nomuka Island where Bligh visited the day before the Mutiny occurs. The journey will also cruise past Tofua Island where Bligh and his loyalists landed. And for the non-history buffs? There are beaches to lie on, islands to explore, and no shortage of South Pacific shops to visit!

Here is a collection of images I took of P&O Pacific Encounter during the July 2023 visit as the passengers returned back to their P&O cruise ship at the end of the day. P&O Pacific Encounter looked very impressive in the bay with all the lights shining brightly in the darkness.
We wish the passengers and crew safe travels as they sail the Pacific on their “Bounty Adventure” cruise, as they depart Brisbane on 13 July to Norfolk Island and all the way to Tonga and many islands along the way and then back to Brisbane on 27 July 2024. We look forward to meeting you all this month.
