Norfolk Island Teacher Consultative Committee – Communique #8

28 October 2021

The Committee met on Thursday 21 October and received a briefing from members on the recent visit by Queensland Department of Education officials to Norfolk Island Central School. Queensland Government officers expressed thanks to all involved in coordinating and participating in the visit, and advised that productive without prejudice discussions were held.

The Committee noted that consideration of the critical issues of leave portability and superannuation arrangements is ongoing.

The NSW Teachers Federation advised the Committee of potential industrial action planned by Federation members.

The Committee requested more information from the Commonwealth on contingency planning. The Commonwealth advised that the focus is on finalising the agreement for provision of education and health support services from the start of 2022.

The Committee will meet again on Thursday 28 October 2021.
