This week in the Norfolk Island night sky
The moon is currently in a waning gibbous phase and is rising later and later each evening. The constellation of Orion is now too low to be seen after sun set, however looking at the easterly night sky, the constellation of Scorpio can be seen clearly, along with the Southern Cross.
Did you know?
…the Tarantula Nebula is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) in the southern sky. It is clearly visible to the naked eye as a large milky patch and is around 170,000 light-years away. This Tarantula Nebula is the most vigorous star forming region known in the local Universe.
