Norfolk Island Police Force

17 August 2023

The last few weeks have been quite, so we have not done any media news. This week we have a few matters:

  1. Police have become aware of multiple instances of vehicle and tyre damage to the grassed area along the KAVHA foreshore. The tyre damage also leads into the old gaol. This damage is extremely disappointing and disrespectful to the workers who maintain KAVHA and go a great job making it presentable for the community and tourists.
  2. There have also been multiple instances of graffiti on Flagstaff lookout, multiple toilets and on a convict wall. The graffiti is from an unknown individual, who has decided to air their personal grievance by defacing property within KAVHA. The graffiti detracts from the beautiful historic area and brings down the aesthetics and reputation of Norfolk Island, which prides itself for not having graffiti. Police ask members of the public to report all graffiti to police and keep an eye out for anyone visiting these areas with a black texta.
  3. The Norfolk Island Police Force is boat almost ready and will undergo sea trials in September 2023. Norfolk Island Police Force have requested the primary schoolers to participate in a colouring-in/naming competition. The winner of the naming competition will be decided by the AFP. The competition will run next week and we would love to see a traditional Norfolk Island name, something which reflects the local maritime waters or sea life.
  4. Norfolk Island Petty Sessions outcomes for this week were:
    1. Female was charged with drink driving. Received a $350 fine, driver’s licence suspended for 2 months and no conviction recorded.
