MHAG are having several activities over the weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9/10 and 11th September to support Suicide Prevention Week, RUOk day and mental health awareness for both youth and adults.
Harry Court who many of you know and is an ambassador for Mental Health is arriving on Friday the 9th and will be performing at the RSL from 7:30 pm. Country and rock music so come along and join in the fun.
Saturday the 10th is the Health and Well-being expo and MHAG will have a table there. Harry will be giving a talk on the Black Dog Ride and playing a few tunes as well. He will be on at 10:40 am.
On Sunday the 11th we will be having our annual Island Bike ride so get out your motorbikes and join in. Great day for all. Ride will commence at 2pm. In conjunction with the bike ride will be the paws walk for mental health. Bring along your furry friend or just yourself for a walk around Kingston with lots of other like minded people. Walk will commence at 2:30pm. Both of these will be followed by a sausage sizzle. Cost $3.00. Meet at one of the barbecues on the golf course side of Emily Bay.
The Mental Health Awareness Group are working with the youth of Norfolk to include them in our activities and for them to set up their own support group. One of the activities we are looking at is to get two people trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid which we will be seeking funding for as well as having a core group of keen young people. Up until Friday 7th October we will be running a competition to name and design a logo for our Youth Mental Health Awareness Group with a prize for the successful entry. Open to ages 12-25 years. A4 designs can be emailed to Kelli at sschmitz40@hotmail.com by Friday 7th October.
