Norfolk Island Governance Committee Community Engagement Consulting on the Proposed Preamble

The Norfolk Island Governance Committee (NIGC) community representatives have commenced consultations on proposed wording for a new preamble for the establishing legislation.

This consultation on development of the preamble is a key priority of the committee, in line with the NIGC’s terms of reference and the Government’s response to the Joint Standing Committee recommendations.

It is taking place while the Minister for Territories continues to consider the proposed elements for a new governing body recommended by the NIGC.

The proposed preamble was discussed at Wednesday’s regular community engagement session and is now publicly available online for review.
