Sydney Breast Screening Clinic will be on Island from the 20th February to the 3rd March 2023, starting at 8.00am on the Monday, for the next screening Clinic. The Assessment Clinic for those who need to return for that will be from the 13th to the 17th March, starting at 9.00 on the Monday.
It is important to note, this time, that you need to phone the Hospital on 22091 to make an appointment 4 weeks before the Clinic date so that registration of the appointments can be sent to the Clinic in Sydney.
You are due for a scan if it is 2 years since you had your last scan, if you have not had one before, if you are due to have one annually, and if you are aged 49 to 74. The largest percentage of people who develop breast cancer are women, but men who have a family history of breast and /or ovarian cancer should also be aware that less than one male per thousand can also develop breast cancer.
The Trust Fund will be in the Mall on a Saturday morning in the New Year, date to be announced, with information on breast cancer and self-awareness and examination procedures.
Please be aware of the necessity to pre-register your appointment. You can phone the Hospital or GP Practice with any enquiries: 22091 or 24134.
The Fund Trustees, Tracey Yager, Allen Bataille and Dale Howe, will be providing morning and afternoon teas and lunches for the visiting teams, and the Trust Fund one-off grants to anyone who has to leave the Island as a result of screening and assessment.
