The Australian Government has announced the appointment of Mr George Plant as Administrator of Norfolk Island for a period of three years, following a rigorous and transparent appointment process.
Mr Plant brings extensive experience in senior public administration roles across the Pacific since the 1990s, most recently serving as Norfolk Island’s Emergency Controller for the past three years.
The Administrator is responsible for assisting the implementation of the Australian Government's agenda on Norfolk Island and for engaging with, and advocating on behalf of the Norfolk Island community.
The role also has a range of statutory powers and functions relating to the delivery of government services on the Island.
Mr Plant will be officially sworn in by the Governor-General of Australia on 26 May 2023, and will commence the role on 1 June 2023.
