14 February 2025
Perfect weather, strong participation and records fell at the 2025 Beach Carnival. House spirit was alive as Nepean, Norfolk and Philip battled it out across a jam-packed schedule of events. This year saw the introduction of new event, the Cameron Relay. The ‘Cameron’ is a relay event comprising of board, swim and run legs. It was a thrill to see the last run leg go past the house tents and hear the supportive screams of students, staff, and families.
A special highlight was the House Patron race, and congratulations go to Ms Meers and the Philip House Captains on getting their patron across the line first for her inaugural race.
There can only be one champion house on the day. Congratulations to Philip who have taken home the Beach Carnival championship for five consecutive years. As newcomers to the island, my family is grateful to be placed in the winning house!
A special thanks to Mr Kieran Lawler for carnival coordination and his HPE support team, Ms Ellis, Mrs Quintal and Ms Gentles. Many hours of preparation go into making the day a success, and we appreciate the collective effort of all staff and volunteers on the day.
Congratulations to the Age Champions and record holders on their achievements. Their names and times are shared for your enjoyment.
Finally, well done to our NICS students on displaying our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Honesty across the day. Whether it was the Preps paddling on boards or intense games of water polo, the level of engagement was outstanding, and we look forward to this continued success at the next two carnivals.
