The upcoming PBL focus for Week 10 is “show kindness”. These key messages will be repeated throughout the week. PBL Awards are presented each week at assembly. As always, parents are more than welcome to attend our Wednesday assemblies. Congratulations to Harlan Evans and Zaria Evans who received this week’s P&C sponsored Gotcha canteen voucher.
This week was National Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. I would like to acknowledge the work that our wonderful Teacher Aides do every day supporting our students. Schools cannot run without support staff. On behalf of NICS, a genuine thank you to all of the non-teaching staff.
This week sees the departure of the Year 11 and 12 Senior Tour to Queensland. The students are bound for a variety of experiences to support their post-school pathways. Students will be visiting a range of universities, TAFE and other experiences. I wish everyone a happy and safe trip. A special acknowledgment to Kirstin Ellard for coordinating this wonderful experience. Thank you also the staff travelling: Carly Ellis, Maree Pepper, Tony Wilkinson and Julia Cullen.
The A&H Show is on the calendar for Monday, 14 October, 2024. All students entering into the A&H Show need to register their entries at school with their teacher during the first two weeks of Term 4. Artwork, crafts, textiles etc should be brought to school by Week 2, Term 4. Any entries during the holidays may be entered and paid for during Term 4, Week 1 and 2, and then to be included, registered entries need to brought to the Supper Room on Sunday, 13 October, from 12:30pm.
Any perishable or fragile entries (cakes, sand posies, vegetable models, etc) must be delivered to the Supper Room on Show Day between 8:00am-8.30am ready for judging at 9:00am. All Prep-2 students need to bring in $1 to their teacher for their show entries which have been organised at school. Students in Years 3-6 need to bring to their teacher $4 or 50c per item for their entries. Secondary students are to organise their entry money with their teachers. All entry money is to be given to Mrs Tierney during Week 2, Term 4. Entries must be a student’s original work and should be labelled with their individual number on the front, and the back must be labelled with their name, year and entry class. All writing entries must be entered at the school and handed to Mrs Tierney or your teacher no later than Friday, 11 October. All Lego models are to be entered into Section 10. There are kit and non-kit models this year.
A reminder to all families that Week 10 is the final week of Term 3. School finishes on Friday, 13 September, with all students and staff returning on Monday, 30 September. I wish everyone a happy and safe spring break.
