From the Principal’s Desk
Earlier this week, I was informed of the passing of Wayne Mendham. I understand Wayne was a highly-respected and much-loved secondary Mathematics teacher and Deputy Principal at our school for a number of years. On behalf of the Norfolk Island Central School community, our thoughts are with the Mendham family.
School has returned to business as usual this week, with regular timetabled lessons for all year groups. Students are expected to attend regular lessons, and only those isolating or unwell will be completing the learning@home resources. I encourage students to wear masks while at school, and follow social distancing and hygiene practices. The school will continue to provide masks, sanitiser and will maintain the additional COVID-cleaning which occurs throughout the day.
I would like to welcome a new staff member to the NICS team, Liz Johnson. Liz joins us from the Sunshine Coast and will be working across P-12 classes.
Congratulations to Ellie Dixon who has been offered a place in the Gold Coast GAPS Camp for Lawn Bowls, an initiative of the Commonwealth Games Association for emerging athletes.
Best of luck to our golfers, Leeloo Evans, Zane Magri and Jade Umlauft, who have left this week to represent NICS at the QLD State Championships next week in in Townsville. Play well and enjoy the experience!
