In our category of Sub Junior Girls at this year’s Cross Country, there was an error in last week’s article with third place. Congratulations to Dayva Schiller.
In further sporting news, Taj Quintal will be traveling to the Solomon Islands for the South Pacific Games, as a part of the first Norfolk Island Men’s Open Touch Football Team. It will be the first Men’s team to represent Norfolk on an International stage, and Taj will be team’s youngest member. Over last two seasons, Taj has played with and alongside a number of players whose ages vary between 13 and 60. Taj was a part of the Grand Final winning team in the 21-22 season, in which he played a pivotal role in a valiant defensive effort that saw his team win in a drop-off situation. Growing from strength to strength the following season, Taj went on to be the winner of the Junior Player of the Year Award. I wish Taj all the best and congratulate him on being part of this representative team.

English Homework Everyday
The English faculty would like to inform parents that it is an expectation that students complete reading for homework for at least 15 minutes every day. This reading homework may be completed by reading out loud to someone else; being read to by someone; or reading silently alone. Being able to read is the most significant influence on a student's ability to write well and experience success at school. Establishing a reading time at home as a family, where everyone in the family reads at the same time, will also demonstrate to your children that reading is a valuable and important activity for everyone. Parents modelling reading and demonstrating a love of reading have a significant impact on their students' enthusiasm for reading.
The library and the English rooms have hundreds of wonderful novels which can be borrowed for home reading. Please feel free to visit the English rooms if you would like recommendations or assistance with choosing novels.
