28 April 2022
From the Principal’s Desk
NICS held its ANZAC Day Service on Tuesday, 26 April, at the school. The Junior and Senior School Leaders chaired the special assembly and spoke with great conviction. A special thank you to Terrence Grube and all Norfolk Island RSL Sub Branch Members who attended. Thank you to Riley Quintal, Koszta Deszecsar and Wilkes Creek for being involved as cadets in our school service.
I would like to welcome James Riley to the NICS staff. James is a temporary appointment to the Guidance Officer role and will support NICS until a permanent position can be secured. James is here for a two-week period and then will continue to support remotely. Welcome to James.
With the easing of restrictions, students and staff are still encouraged to continue to wear masks when they are unable to socially distance. NICS will continue with the additional COVID-cleaning program, ventilation in classes and hand-hygiene messages. As always, if students are feeling unwell, please keep them at home. If students at school have COVID-like symptoms, we will contact parents to collect their children and continue providing RAT tests as previously arranged.
I have received a few phone calls regarding Labour Day in QLD falling on Monday, 2 May. This is not a Public Holiday for NICS, even though we are under Queensland Education. School will be as normal for Monday, 2 May.
