The upcoming Week 9 Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus area is “Take ownership of your behaviour.” These key messages will be repeated throughout the week. PBL Awards are presented each week at assembly. It has been wonderful to see so many recipients this term, especially in our secondary area of the school. As always, parents are more than welcome to attend our Wednesday assemblies. A new PBL award sponsored by the NICS P&C has been implemented to acknowledge and reward students doing the right thing in the playground. The “Gotcha” awards are collected and placed in a box in the office by staff, and two $5 canteen vouchers are drawn out at assembly each week. Congratulations to this week’s “Gotcha” winners, Ava Mullens and Harry Bell.
Semester 1 reports will be emailed to parents in Week 10. After consultation with staff and the P&C, reports will be slightly different from this semester. The code generated comments have been removed and replaced with a faculty specific comment regarding the coursework studied and assessments completed. The reports will feature the A-E grades, along with effort and behaviour. We had excellent uptake with the Parent-Teacher meetings at the end of Term 1 with 86% of parents attending. Parent-Teacher meetings will be held early in Term 3 on Wednesday, 7 August. The online booking system will open next term.
Congratulations to Jaylon Williams who represented Norfolk Island at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Fiji this week in the 100m and 200m sprints. Well done on a great effort and taking the opportunity to represent Norfolk Island. We were all cheering you on in the library.
Over the last couple of weeks, Year 11 student, Aly Miller, along with Croyden Snell, Sam Fraser n Dom Evans, competed in the Fiji Open, an international tennis competition.
