The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is widening its reach on Norfolk Island, with a 4-day visit to the Island next month to help people with disability to access supports.
Representatives of the Agency, which implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), will visit the Island from September 7 to10.
They will hold a range of free information sessions and pop-up stalls for participants, nominees, parents or guardians, educators, service providers, and anyone interested in the Scheme.
The NDIA team will also have a stall at a Health and Wellbeing Expo at Rawson Hall.
NDIA Community Liaison Delegate Stacey Evers says the Agency is aiming to make the visit an annual event. She says it will promote the benefits of the Scheme and empower people with disability to better access supports.
“The purpose of the visit is to maintain a strong connection with the Island and assist people living with disability and their supports to understand the Scheme,” Ms Evers said.
“People interested are welcome to attend any of the information sessions, or the Expo, to meet with NDIA representatives and ask any questions they may have about the NDIS.
“The info sessions will be quite broad and informal, so everyone is welcome to come along and say hello.”
The sessions and pop-up outlets will be held at children and family services agency NI-Connect, on Taylors Rd, at The Bounty Centre, from September 7 to 9.
The visit will conclude on Saturday, September 10 with a Health and Wellbeing Expo at Rawson Hall. NDIA representatives will join local and mainland health services providers at the event. Locals are welcome to visit the Expo between 10am and 1pm.
