MV Norfolk First Delivery from NZ 2025

The cargo vessel the MV Norfolk finally arrived on Norfolk Island at the end of March and the unloaded commenced at Kingston on 1 April 2025. The following day, on Wednesday, massive swells developed, and the vessel had to take shelter and headed the Cascade Bay and waited for calm seas to complete the unloading. This was the first delivery of sea freight from Auckland, New Zealand for 2025, the last delivery was in November 2024.

I took photographs on the first day of unloading at Kingston, but missed getting photos at Cascade as the unloading was completed later in the week. Also anchored at Cascade was the large cargo ship, Mito, which was delivering new cargo transfer vessels for Norfolk Island. The MV Norfolk looked like a dinky toy next to the large ship.

The lighterage crew also back loaded recycling items from Waste Management on the MV Norfolk. Once this was completed the MV Norfolk remained in anchored at Cascade Bay before heading to Brisbane for the next scheduled cargo voyage.

The unloading of the freight only takes a couple of days, and the lighterage crew had a busy time unloading the long awaited shipment from New Zealand on the transfer cargo vessels, and the local truck drivers shuttled the freight from the Piers to the Norfolk Island businesses. Everyone will be excited to see the long awaited stock orders, vehicles, timber, along with frozen food items for the supermarket and many other items that arrived.
