MV Norfolk, Due this weekend from Brisbane

The MV Norfolk is due to arrive during February with a sea-freight delivery from Brisbane. This will be the first cargo delivery from Australia for the year, and the last delivery was also from Brisbane on 11 December 2024. I have been checking the position of the cargo vessel and earlier last week, it had been in the Brisbane Port, loading our cargo. Since then, the MV Norfolk has been anchored off the Sunshine Coast waiting for the weather to settle for the voyage to Norfolk Island. The cargo vessel was scheduled to arrive on Norfolk Island on Saturday 8 February 2025, but the estimate date has been updated to 24 February on the shipping schedules. I the vessel will arrive later in the month since there is stormy tropical storms North of Norfolk Island in New Caledonia area.

The sea-freight vessel will be delivering Australia cargo for the local Norfolk Island community and will hopefully mean that Australian Postal deliveries will have packages for those still waiting for 2024 post and last year’s Christmas parcels.

Once the MV Norfolk arrives, the vessel will shelter on the calmest side of the island and once the decision is made to unload, a lighterage call will be given on

the Norfolk Island Radio Station. It normally takes a couple of days for the lighterage crew to unload the cargo from the ship to shore at the Cascade Pier or Kingston Pier. Thank you for the lighterage crew, truck drivers and shipping company for your continued skills unloading the cargo.

The Norfolk Island Shipping schedule shows as from February 2025 for the MV Norfolk. The vessel is scheduled to have a regular shipping service from Brisbane and Auckland, alternating with back-and-forth voyages. These details are subject to change and has been updated due to weather and ocean conditions.
