Multii-Nations Tournament

The Norfolk Island Bowls Club has been fortunate enough to have been invited to participate in the Multi-Nations Tournament on the Gold Coast as a warm up for the World Championships later this year. The Club has provided both a full Ladies and Men’s team with dual World Gold Medallist Carmen Anderson leading a strong women’s team, together with Shae Wilson who narrowly missed out on a medal at the recent Commonwealth Games and the vastly experienced Petal Jones, together with Vivian Bigg & Junior Ellie Dixon. The Men’s team has plenty of experience with the Commonwealth Games (Gold Coast) Bronze Medallist Ryan Dixon leading a strong team with evergreen Moochie Christian who has represented the Island since 1990, together with Matt Bigg and new comers to the team, John Groat, Brent Johnstone & Tony Scicluna. The selectors have selected a cross section of players with an eye on the World Championships in September this year.

Over the week the players have had mixed results with some excellent wins and a few close losses, the results of these games were:

LADIES QUALIFY IN TWO EVENTS.

The Ladies Pairs team skipped by Shae Wilson together with Carmen Anderson qualified for the semi-finals and defeated Australia Yellow 19-11 and get to play in the final on Friday morning (results next week).

Shae Wilson by winning her last game easily 21-4 and the two Australian girls winning has allowed Shae to qualify for the semi-finals which are to be played on Thursday afternoon against the Australian girl Kelsey Cottrell. (results in next week’s report).
