King Charles III, is now Crowned King

11 May 2023

His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla ceremonial coronation Crowning was held at Westminster Abbey, London last weekend with thousands lining the roads in the rain with smiles on their faces and millions watching the broadcast across the world. The Royal Occasion was on Saturday 6 May, was the Coronation of King Charles III.

The views as the soldiers marched and riding horses, almost looked like toy soldiers, not a sight you see every day. The amazing gold carriages reminded me of fairy tales, maybe the royal carriages inspired the magical childhood stories. The coaches and carriages were used by the Royal Family as they drove from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. There were reported to be 2000 invited guests at the Coronation and the choirs, orchestra and musicians added to the Royal occasion at the crowning of the King and Queen.

I stayed up late and watch the Coronation, I felt I was watching a history documentary, pleased to be able to witness a Royal Coronation, the first in my lifetime. I took a few photos of the stunning views, which showed many traditions and British pageantry. I found it interesting to learn the history of the proceedings and items used for this very British Ceremony.

It is now eight months since Charles became King, on the 8 September 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died, and His Royal Highness was officially proclaimed King by the Accession Council on September 10. His Majesty is now the fully crowned King, and next in line for the crown is Prince William his eldest son.

Here are some of the images I captured while watching the TV broadcast, plus images from the official Buckingham Palace Coronation photographs.
