… and on 24, 26, 27 and 29 April the roadside cattle will be rounded up to be tagged and drenched for the 2022/2023 pasturage year under the Stock Health Programme. Details of where musters will occur are published in the Norfolk Island Government Gazette.
HISTORY RECORDS
That the Stock Health Programme commenced in 1980 as a result of amendments to the Pasturage and Enclosure Ordinance, and to the Stock Diseases Ordinance of Norfolk Island initiated by John Healey Ryves, then a member of the First Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island. The Stock Health Programme was designed to improve cattle health thereby improving meat production, fertility, and reduce the incidence of calving losses.
The Stock Health Programme has continued uninterrupted since 1980 up to the present day with the cost of tags and drench included in the annual agistment fee which is currently $150 per head of cattle over six months of age.
