On Tuesday night I had the opportunity to present my project from my trauma informed Yoga training on how colonisation dis-ables our innate ability to live as fully embodied, whole, connected beings. Although the approach to this topic was from a holistic and Yogic lens, it brought out important, pivotal points on the issue of colonisation and how it has impacted every corner of the world and is still very much active today.
A main theme running throughout the presentation was the notion of the mindset of the coloniser and how that mindset is responsible for so much devastation and contraction over innumerable generations which stem down to our current, existing daily life; especially when we measure it against the law of nature (or universal law), the desire for oneness, and our hope to reach some sort of 'collective consciousness'.
I would like to thank all those who took time to attend my presentation. I hope it inspired and evoked a deeper level of understanding on how we are actually all a part of this scenario, this history, and this form of trauma.
