Happy Easter, the long weekend has arrived, and time for many to relax with the family and if the weather is nice, enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends. This year Easter starts on Friday 15th April through to Monday 18th April, which is also a Public Holiday.
On Thursday 14 April 5:30pm till late, the Local held a twilight market with entertainment and market stores. It did rain on Thursday evening, so hopefully everyone was able to enjoy an evening under the veranda and inside at the Local.
Friday morning, the rain was heavy overnight with thunderstorms. Easter Friday was a good day to spend indoors with family and I am sure many attended the All-Saints Chapel at 9am for the Good Friday church service.
On Saturday morning, the Easter Bunny will be visiting the Bounty Centre, 10am to 11am, bring the family along for some Easter fun and excitement. I am sure there will be a few Easter Eggs to share.
Hopefully everyone has enjoyed their Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday and I am sure the bakeries will be preparing a few more on Saturday, so don’t miss out if you would like a few more Easter buns during the Easter weekend break.
Easter Eggs have been selling fast, check out local businesses to see if they have any eggs available, Sweeties and Serious Chocolate also prepare many yummy chocolate treats for family, young and old.
Check out local notices for the Easter Weekend church services, on Easter Saturday, the Seventh Day Adventist Church service is at 11am. The Sunday Easter services, All Saints Church at Kingston services will be held on Easter Sunday at 9am, Uniting Church at 10am , St Phillip’s Howard Catholic Church 9am and All Nations Christian Fellowship at 5.30pm. There will be a special combined churches up Mt Pitt, Sunrise Service at 6am on Sunday morning. For more details listen to the local Norfolk Island Radio for details or visit the Norfolk Island Information Centre or the local churches.
Easter weekend is also the Lions Biggest BBQ, a fundraiser for Child Cancer. If you see the volunteers set up at Kingston on Easter Sunday, please stop and support this worthy fundraiser.
Have a Happy Easter and enjoy the break if you manage to get a few days off work.
