The race that stops the nation, the Lexus Melbourne Cup, was on Tuesday 4 November, and this year there was once again a thrilling race, held at Flemington Racecourse.
“Half Yours” has won the 2025 Melbourne Cup ridden by Jamie Melham, who becomes the second female jockey to win the race that stops the nation. She also joined Michelle Payne, with her historic triumph aboard “Prince of Penzance” ten years ago, in 2015.
“Half Yours”, the five-year-old, became the first Australian-bred galloper to win the Cup since “Vow And Declare” in 2019. “Half Yours” trainers are father–son training duo, Tony and Calvin McEvoy, they will be celebrating the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup win.
The winner of the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup was number 14, “Half Yours” with the jockey Jamie Melham. Number 14, “Half Yours” won by 2.75 lengths from “Goodie Two Shoes” with jockey Wayne Lordan and finishing third “Middle Earth” with jockey Ethan Brown.
Irish-trained “Goodie Two Shoes” defied his outsider status to finish second, while Ciaron Maher-trained “Middle Earth” came third and “River of Stars” was fourth.

Here on Norfolk Island, events were held at the RSL, Castaway Breweries, the NI Leagues Club, Governors Lodge, the Bowling Club, and other smaller gatherings. Many locals dressed up for the afternoon and had a fun day with friends at the gatherings.
