Greenwood Fishing Adventures

14 September 2023

This week in fishing news from Norfolk Island we’ve had some less than ideal conditions keeping most boats in their sheds but a few of us braved the conditions and found some quality fish. Our main species the redthroat sweetlip have been a little tricky compared to normal but even a bad day we still come home with more than enough for a feed. It’s been the kingfish keeping our arms stretched lately with some nice schools of healthy fish on the usual jig marks, and as the picture shows the occasional Samson fish.

We’ve been spotting a few humpback whales also while fishing which is always a nice bonus. In closer to shore we’ve had a nice influx of small baitfish that is quickly getting snapped up by schools of bonito, great fun on spin gear and it’s some of the best bait you can get.

The week ahead could be a similar story with enough wind and swell to make it unpleasant out there but not bad enough to stop the keen fisho. Take care and catch you all next week.
