Greenwood Fishing Adventures

23 March 2023

This week in fishing news from Norfolk Island we’ve had yet another great week with a couple of stand out days where the fishing was red hot. When fishing is your livelihood you get to spend many hours out on the water in all sorts of conditions that all effect how productive the day will be.

Some obvious ones like wind strength and sea conditions but many others like moon phases, tides, time of day and even barometric pressure all play with behavior of fish and can be the difference between catching very little to an unforgettable crazy session that continues for hours. This week I experienced one of these crazy sessions when everything I mentioned above came together.

You can’t call it fishing when this happens, it’s catching. Every bait you send down is gobbled up in seconds by the first fish that can get to it, time and time again. Some of species caught this week include Redthroat Sweetlip, Kingfish, Trevally, Bar Cod and Yellowfin Tuna. The week ahead looks ok for a couple of close in trips to keep the visiting fishermen and women happy. Catch you all next week.
