On 3 May 2025, the Australian Federal Elections were held, and the Australian Labor Party celebrated their land slide win, and ready to commence their second term Governing the Australian Parliament. Anthony Albanese secured a second term as Prime Minister as leader of the Australian Labor Party. The Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and leader of the Liberal Party not only lost the election but also losing his seat in his own electoral district of Dickson. The Liberal Party had to choose a new leader after the 2025 Federal Election results.
The BEAN, ACT electoral district is in Canberra and also includes Norfolk Island, and residents of Norfolk Island are registered under the ACT, Bean electoral roll. The Norfolk Island polling booth premises details under the Bean electoral district in ACT.
This election there were four listed candidates who are standing for the Bean, ACT electoral district House of Representative and there was long list of about 14 candidates standing for the Senate.
House of Representatives - Australia
The Bean electoral district was another story as Labor Party member David Smith and Independent Jessie Price were neck and neck as the votes were counted. From day to day, their votes were too close to call until all the polling day votes, special votes and mail votes etc were all counted.
David Smith with 50.17% , 50,745 votes
Jessie Price with 49.83% 50,395 votes.
The final count was so close, David Smith – Australia Labour Party was announced the Bean winner by 350 votes.
On Norfolk Island, there were 585 votes recorded at the Polling Booth at Rawson Hall. The Norfolk Island voters were recorded as
236 votes, 44.61%, Jessie Price, Independent.
144 votes, 27.22%, David Smith, Australian Labor Party.
110 votes, 20.79%, David Lamerton, Liberal Party.
39 votes, 7.37%, Sam Carter, Australia Green Party.
