PCR testing 72 hours before arrival for vaccinated returning resident’s and essential workers from NSW, Victoria, and the ACT.

Currently fully vaccinated returning resident’s and essential workers from NSW, Victoria and the ACT must self-isolate until returning a negative PCR test and released by NIHRACS. This may take up to 7 days.

To reduce this self-isolation period, it has been agreed that fully vaccinated returning resident’s and essential workers from NSW, Victoria and the ACT can get a PCR test done on the mainland up to 72 hours prior to travelling to the island. On arrival they will need to show proof of vaccination status along with the PCR negative test result and have no COVID-19 symptoms. NIHRACS will then provide a self-isolation release.

If you are an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated returning resident or essential worker, you will be required to self-isolate at home for 14 days or until released by NIHRACS.

International returning resident’s and essential workers.

From November 1 NSW is allowing fully vaccinated returning Australian residents to return from overseas without having to undergo quarantine. They must provide proof of vaccination status and have a COVID-19 test after arrival.

If they spend 14 days in NSW before travelling to the island, they will need to have a PCR test 72 hours prior to travelling to the island and providing they have no symptoms will not have to undergo further self-isolation on the island. If they spend less than 14 days after arriving from overseas in NSW and travel to the island, they will have to self-isolate for 14 days or until released by NIHRACS.
