NORFOLK ISLAND HEALTH AND RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE SERVICE (NIHRACS)

NIHRACS is a multi-purpose service committed to the delivery of excellence in care: For our community, By our People, With our Partners. Our service provides community, ambulatory, emergency, inpatient and residential aged care and respite services to the community of Norfolk Island. Our People include nursing, medical, allied health, laboratory, medical imaging, support services, information service, business administration and governance team members.

The Role and Responsibilities

The NIHRACS Education and Training Coordinator will be accountable at an advanced practice level for the:

• Design, Facilitation, and Oversight of Education Programs:

• Develop, coordinate and, where required, implement comprehensive education programs for all NIHRACS people, with a specific focus on targeted training to enhance the capacity and capability of all team members, in line with service goals and strategic priorities.

• Be committed to the professional development of self and others.

• Development and Management of Educational Resources:

• Coordinate, manage, maintain, and where relevant, create educational resources to support the learning and development needs of the NIHRACS workforce, including orientation and professional updates, in conjunction with our service partners.

• Maintain accurate records of all staff education and training activities, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Develop, implement and regularly review education procedures and linked documents such as competency assessments.

• Provision of Nursing Expertise: Provide advanced nursing expertise related to educational issues across the service, ensuring the integration of contemporary education principles into nursing practice.

• Student, Trainee, and Graduate Placement Program: Establish and facilitate a robust placement program for students, trainees, and graduates to enhance the development of the on-island workforce.

This role works Monday to Friday.

About the applicant:

The successful applicant will have:

• A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, as a minimum.

• Tertiary qualification in Nursing and registration with the Australian Health Professional Registration Authority (AHPRA).

• Experience in the provision and / or facilitation of health service wide education in rural / remote settings. Evidence of values-based practice will be highly regarded.

• Required vaccinations for healthcare workers.

• Clear employment screening checks (National Criminal Record Check / National Criminal Record Check Aged Care / Working with Children Check).

Selection Criteria

• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: High level verbal communication skills, proven interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise with staff and community at all levels.

• Education and Improvement / Change Management Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of education content to adult learners, the management of an online LMS, and in applying change or quality improvement management principles to build organisational capacity and support the achievement of strategic priorities and outcomes.

• Simulation experience would be highly regarded.

• Innovation and Analytical Skills:

• Proven understanding of data and analytics including monitoring and reporting of mandatory education and other key performance indicators.

• Demonstrated success in using data to identify opportunities for innovation and leading projects to completion.

• Organisational and Technical Proficiency: Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed and innovative, and with proficient computer skills particularly with programs including (but not limited to) Office 365 suite e.g.- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Remuneration: The Education and Training Coordinator will be remunerated as an NRG Grade 7 under the NIHRACS Enterprise Agreement. An indicative range of base remuneration is $4 933 to $5,355 per fortnight. Superannuation and locality allowance will be applicable. Relocation allowance may be applicable.
