Day Light Saving Ends 6 April 2025

26 March 2025

Sunday 6 April will be the end of Day Light Saving. Sunrise and Sunset will be about an hour earlier, which will make it lighter in the morning, and the evenings will be darker earlier.

Norfolk Island first daylight saving was observed in 1974 to 1975, and it was re-introduced in 2019. Many of the community have enjoyed the reintroduction of Daylight Saving for Norfolk Island, making it easier to enjoy outdoor activities in the evening over the summer months.

In 2017, the local Norfolk Island Regional Council, NIRC, held a community survey, regarding the Norfolk Island time zone and 85% of the respondents strongly supported changing the Norfolk Island time zone. The Norfolk Island Time Zone had been previously adjusted a few years earlier (2015), from UTC +11.5 to UTC +11.0, our clocks were changed by half an hour, which meant extremely early sunrises in the summer months and early sunsets. It was announced by the NIRC that Norfolk Island would have Day Light Saving introduced for 2019 summer.

Day light Saving runs from the first Sunday in October, adjusting time forward one hour and then on the first Sunday in April the time is returned back one hour.

This year Day Light Saving ends on 6 April 2025 and starts 5 October 2025.

Clocks Go Back 1 Hour

Australia DST ends the same day as Norfolk Island,

Ends 6 April 2025 and Starts on 5 October 2025.

New Zealand DST also ends the same day as Norfolk Island,

Ends – 6 April 2025 and New Zealand restarts a week earlier on 28 September 2025.

With the end of Daylight Saving, don’t forget if you are calling friends and family across the ditch in New Zealand and Australia, there is now a difference in time zones which will also affect the TV viewing times.

As well as changing your clocks for Day Light Saving, it is also a good reminder to change your batteries in your Smoke Alarms and check your First Aid Kits.

Now that the summer season is just about to end and the arrival of autumn, there is still time to continue to enjoy the Norfolk Island great outdoors. I love to spend time at Emily Bay, around the garden and enjoy walks in the parks and always enjoy watching the sunsets.

Don’t Forget to turn your clocks back one hour,

before you go to bed on Saturday night!!!
