Cruise Ship Azamara Pursuit

31 January 2025

The Azamara Pursuit arrived at Cascade Bay on Friday morning, 31 January 2025, this is the second cruise ship for the year, and travelers were able to disembark on their cruise ship passenger transfer vessels at Cascade Pier. There had been a brief shower of rain overnight and the weather in the morning was warm and breezy with large swells at Kingston and swells at Cascade as well with the morning high tide.

The passengers were bused to town to begin exploring our beautiful Norfolk Island. Some ventured to Kingston and the world heritage area, and I saw them walking around the convict ruins and enjoying the stunning view of the lagoon. Some checked out the shops in town, while others went off on tours learning about the history and beauty of our remote South Pacific Island.

I drove to Cascade Pier in the morning and took a few photos as the passengers were slowly unloaded and the boat ride looked a bit bumpy as the crew carefully transferred the tourist to the landing area. I returned in the afternoon and the sun was shining brightly and the boats were busy taking the cruise ship passengers back to the Azamara Pursuit. I met a few of the travelers during the day and they said their next stop is the Bay of Islands when they return to New Zealand.

The Azamara Pursuit is on a 14-day cruise starting in Auckland New Zealand cruising around many ports around the North and South Island including sailing to Norfolk Island then returning to New Zealand.

The Azamara Pursuit was built in 2001 and sails under the flag of Malta and is a Azamara Cruises cruise liner. The former names of this cruise ship are Adonia, Royal Princess, Minerva II, R8. The ship has the capacity for 670 to 777 passengers with 375 crew. The vessel is 180m length, Beam 24m, draught of 5.6m and 30,277 tones with a cruising speed of 18knots.
