Between 10-13 October 2023, the Norfolk Island Court of Petty Sessions held proceedings before Chief Magistrate Cull, where the following matters were finalised:
A 41 year old male plead guilty to culpable driving of a motor vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol causing grievous bodily harm, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was convicted of all three offences and sentenced to complete 120 hours of community service within 12 months, a 12 month Good Behaviour Order, not to leave the Island within that period without permission from the Court, a 12 month driver licence suspension and $800 in fines.
A 53 year old female plead guilty to low-range drink driving. She was sentenced to a $300 fine and had her driver licence cancelled for two months.
A 48 year old male plead guilty to high-range drink driving, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was convicted of all three offences and sentenced to pay $1,650 in fines, his driver licence was cancelled for 8 months and he must complete the Queensland Traffic Offenders Program within 4 months or will be resentenced.
A 64 year old female plead guilty to two different counts of drink driving, one high-range and one mid-range. She was convicted of both offences and sentenced to pay $1,100 in fines, a 15 month good behaviour order and her driver licence was cancelled for 8 months.
A 56 year old male plead guilty to mid-range drink driving. He was convicted and sentenced to pay a $750 fine and his driver licence was disqualified for 4 months.
A 55 year old male plead guilty to mid-range drink driving, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was convicted of all three offences and sentenced to 60 hours of community service, a 24 month Good Behaviour Order, not to leave the Island within that period without permission from the Court, his driver licence was cancelled for 6 months and $1,600 in fines. He also consented to a 12 month alcohol prohibition order.
A 51 year old female plead guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was sentenced to a 12 month Good Behaviour Order.
