We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our team in a remote island location. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide Clinical leadership to NIHRACS facility while embracing the values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. The CN will team lead and support the acute nursing team at NIHRACS. This position will work primarily after hours. The position will support best practice and ensure a safe environment for residents, patients and workers within the facility.

Key Responsibilities and attributes:

Responsible for planning and implementation of comprehensive, holistic, high quality, evidence-based nursing care, and function as the team leader across emergency, general inpatient and residential aged care environments.

Work as a team to support the delivery of excellence in care, liaising with multidisciplinary team members to improve patient outcomes.

Ensuring practice is in line with AHPRA Scope of Clinical Practice including ongoing professional development.

Advocate for patient rights and access to quality care.

Work in support of the Clinical Nurse Consultant in driving the NSQHS standards and be a standard lead.

Participate in audits and research to improve healthcare services. Advocate for best practice aligned with the NSQHS standards. Assist the leadership team in the development of policies and procedures.

Knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality, and continuous improvement principles, and the role of the Clinical Nurse in applying these.

Recognise and respect the cultural diversity of the community, adapting healthcare practices to meet the specific needs and preferences of patients.

Possesses basic computer literacy, knowledge of health information systems and Office 365 applications.

Selection Criteria:

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

At least 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and demonstrated leadership experience. Remote, aged care, nurse generalist, and emergency nursing experience is highly desirable.

Relevant Postgraduate qualification or evidence of extensive professional development.

Current ALS and ETEK Triage (or equivalent) qualifications.

Demonstrated ability to work in culturally diverse communities and adapt care approaches to the local population’s values, customs, and healthcare beliefs.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to changing needs and conditions in a remote setting.

Remuneration: CN will be paid as NRG Grade 6 under the NIHRACS Enterprise Agreement. An indicative range of base remuneration is $4,138.13 to $4,431.06 Per fortnight. Superannuation and locality allowance will be applicable. Relocation allowance may be applicable.
